Job OverviewThis multi-campus Environmental Science Educator will work at different Nature Bridge locations in California and Virginia throughout the 2024 season.
- March-June:

At Prince William Forest Park
, educators teach 3‑day, hands‑on outdoor environmental science education programs to students from Virginia and Washington DC, primarily 5th and 7th graders.
At Golden Gate
, educators teach 5‑day camp sessions, working primarily with 1st-4th graders. Coastal Camp combines marine and coastal ecology themes with hands‑on activities and games in a day‑camp setting.
- Lead multi‑day, student‑centered, experiential environmental science programs in outdoor settings, individually and with a co‑teacher.
- Facilitate inclusive, culturally relevant instruction that incorporates multiple perspectives and connects learning to students’ lives and communities.
- Engage students in scientific practices through hands‑on investigations, tailoring programming to meet each group’s needs, align with teacher‑defined outcomes, and reflect the Nature Bridge Theory of Change.
- Follow Nature Bridge risk management policies and procedures, use sound judgment to manage risk while caring for students’ physical and emotional well‑being, administer and document first aid as needed, and keep required records.
- Foster a supportive, respectful learning environment and model responsible environmental behavior.
- Design and lead evening programs or assist guest presenters and partners.
- Serve as an educator on standby when scheduled.
- Assess and document student learning; contribute to program reflection, evaluation, and improvement.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, program debriefs, and complete paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Maintain gear and contribute to campus stewardship.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts by sharing stories from the field.
- For staff in Nature Bridge Housing: follow all housing policies and community agreements.
- Build respectful, supportive relationships with staff, volunteers, and participants; provide high‑quality customer service.
- Support campus operations and organizational goals through additional duties such as event support, special projects, and community stewardship.
- $17.14 per hour; daily and weekly hours vary based on demand.
- Position is considered Exempt in Virginia, Non‑Exempt in California. You will be compensated for travel between locations.
