Overview
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Sales Engineer II in Manassas, Virginia. The Sales Engineer II is responsible for the sale of new Caterpillar generator sets with ancillary equipment such as weatherproof enclosures, fuel tanks, and automatic transfer switches. The individual in this role will have overall management responsibility for the sales process from design stage to final quote.
Priority is the overall sales growth and the development of strong trusting relationships with consulting engineers, contractors, and end-users within the assigned territory. Seeking candidates with a minimum five years sales or project management experience in electric power generation or related field;
Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Degree preferred.
Responsibilities and qualifications are listed below.
Responsibilities- Manage the sales process from design stage to final quote for Caterpillar generator sets and ancillary equipment.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with consulting engineers, contractors and end-users within the assigned territory.
- Coordinate with sales team and technical support to solve client problems and develop objective-driven sales strategies.
- Prepare detailed and accurate bid materials and sales/training presentations.
- Travel as required by the position and work hours as needed to meet business objectives.
- Minimum five years of sales or project management experience in electric power generation or related field
- Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree preferred
- Energetic self-starter with ability to work with limited supervision
- High mechanical aptitude and experience dealing with multiple disciplines (contractors, consultants, engineers, end-users)
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of personnel and to communicate clearly in written, verbal and presentation formats
- Ability to develop and implement detailed bid materials and sales/training presentations
- Willing to travel and comply with job-related hours
- Proficiency in telephone and computer communication; ability to manage large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to interpret data and make quick, informed decisions

Regularly required to stand; walk; talk or hear. Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
