Software Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support containerization development across large Naval Submarine subsystems. This role involves creating a common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic designs aboard submarines to promote interoperability during joint operations with integrated fighting forces. The engineer will utilize their expertise to write secure code for communications interfacing Kubernetes with a private cloud for edge communication.

• Perform software integration and debugging.
• Get a Linux system to work with a private cloud and perform testing.
• Design, develop, and deploy containers using Kubernetes in a Linux OS environment, optimizing system performance, security, and scalability.
• Develop Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling and implement interprocess communication within containers.
• Optimize GPU performance within container environments.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in C or Java.
• 3 years of development, integration, and troubleshooting experience with Linux/Unix Operating System.
• Experience with designing and building containers with Kubernetes for efficient deployment and management.

• Experience with GPU optimization within containers.
• Proficiency with RKE2 and KubeVIP.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
• Knowledge of interprocess communication within containers and pod networking.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling.
• Experience in designing containers to be highly available.

Work Environment

The work site is located in Manassas, VA, hosting over 2000 personnel. The schedule is flexible, offering options such as 4/10s, 9/80, or a standard 5-day, 40-hour work week.

This is a Contract position based out of Manassas, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 – $80.00/hr.
