The On-Call Lead Caregiver serves as a senior caregiver who supports and leads the caregiving team while remaining available to fill open or emergency shifts as needed. This role combines hands‑on client care with leadership responsibilities, ensuring continuity of care, staff support, and high service standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities:Caregiver Coverage & On-Call Support
Remain on‑call during assigned hours to cover call‑offs, last‑minute schedule changes, and emergency shifts.
Step in to provide direct care when coverage is needed, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Ensure smooth shift transitions and continuity of care for clients.
Leadership & Team SupportServe as a lead point of contact for caregivers during shifts.
Provide guidance, direction, and support to caregivers in the field.
Model professional behavior, strong work ethic, and compassionate care.
Assist with onboarding, shadowing, and mentoring new caregivers.
Client Care & Quality AssuranceDeliver high‑quality personal care services in accordance with care plans.
Monitor care quality and report concerns or changes in client condition to management.
Address caregiver or client issues in real time and escalate when necessary.
Communication & DocumentationCommunicate clearly with scheduling staff, supervisors, and caregivers.
Document shift coverage, incidents, and client updates accurately and timely.
Maintain confidentiality and comply with all company policies and state regulations.
QualificationsMinimum of 2 years experience as a professional caregiver (home care preferred).
Reliable transportation and ability to travel between client locations.
Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
Flexible availability and willingness to work on short notice.
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to pass background check and meet state licensing requirements.
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift, transfer, and assist clients as required.
Ability to stand, walk, and perform caregiving duties for extended periods.
Schedule & AvailabilityOn‑call status during assigned days/hours.
Must be available to cover shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays.
Compensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly rate (higher than standard caregiver rate).
On‑call stipend or bonus (if applicable).
