Job Description
MRI Tech (Job Code: MT3387) – Full Time, Evening Shift, Bonus Eligible. Non‑Exempt. The MRI technologist works with the radiologist and staff to prepare patients and operate magnetic resonance equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. The role requires high competency in positioning patients, setting technical factors, ensuring image quality, and working under general supervision.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for MRI examinations and operate MRI equipment.
- Position the patient’s body part for imaging and set appropriate technical factors.
- Ensure production of high‑quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
- Perform routine quality control procedures and maintain sterile equipment.
- Explain procedures and post‑procedure orders to patients to minimize anxiety.
- Assist in planning and improvement processes based on patient satisfaction data.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduate of an accredited school for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- 2 years of healthcare experience preferred.
- ARRT or ARMRIT registration in MRI required; registry must be completed within 12 months of hire.
- Proficiency in verbal and written communications.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and multitask.
- Proficiency in MRI safety.

- Teamwork – Works collaboratively; facilitates staff meetings.
- Technical Competency – Follows standards; manipulates equipment safely; performs warm‑up and quality control; critiques images.
Physical Demands
- Medium to heavy physical demand: constant standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping.
- Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs; use safe handling equipment for weights over 35 lbs.
- Proficient communication and attention to detail required.
Other Requirements
- May require safety equipment such as HEPA mask for infection prevention.
- On‑call responsibilities as directed.
- Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
