Advanced Systems Engineer

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership for infrastructure implementation, system integration, and assigned installations, coordinating engineering activities and serving as a primary technical resource for complex integration and troubleshooting efforts.

Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, networking, virtualization, and configuration issues through systematic troubleshooting, log analysis, fault isolation, and root-cause analysis.

Plan, execute, and validate software integrations, including software deliveries, defect corrections, regression testing, and system compatibility verification.

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, virtualized infrastructure, network interfaces, and supporting services.

Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using Ansible, scripting, and Dev Ops tools to improve deployment consistency and operational efficiency.

Support high availability and failover configurations using Red Hat technologies, including Open Shift, Pacemaker, PCS, and DRBD.Collaborate with software development, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, and test teams to investigate technical issues, implement corrective actions, and validate resolutions.

Document integration activities, troubleshooting findings, technical impacts, and corrective actions using established engineering processes and tools.

Required Qualifications Fully proficient understanding and application of systems engineering principles, including systems integration, verification, technical analysis, and troubleshooting.

Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems, virtualized infrastructure, network interfaces, and support services, ensuring configuration consistency, reliability, and compatibility across environments.

Collaborate with lead engineers and engineering teams to evaluate infrastructure configurations, identify technical risks, recommend solutions, and implement and validate approved technical changes

Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex issues across interconnected hardware, software, networking, and infrastructure components.

Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, DNS, and connectivity troubleshooting.

Experience with virtualization technologies and scripting or automation tools such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.

Ability to quickly learn and apply unfamiliar technologies, analyze complex technical issues, and effectively communicate findings and corrective actions.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat High Availability (Pacemaker, PCS, DRBD), and virtualization platforms such as VMware, KVM, or Red Hat Virtualization.

Proficiency with Ansible and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.

Experience supporting remote installations, deployed systems, and complex troubleshooting efforts.

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, containerization, and Agile/Dev Ops practices.

Experience with Kubernetes, Open Shift, Kube Virt, or similar technologies.

Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana,…
