Overview

Welder (Tig) - Welder/Fitter - Pipe Fitter - CONSTRUCTION at BION, inc. (Northern Virginia) is a commercial mechanical contractor specializing in healthcare construction.

Position type: hourly, non-exempt. Compensation based on experience.

• Read and comprehend construction drawings and specifications.
• Welding, fitting and installing pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures, and equipment as appropriate for the role (Tig Welder, Welder/Fitter, or Pipe Fitter).
• Prove ability to solder and braze copper pipe and to fit up stainless steel where required.
• As needed, pass weld tests to qualify and perform work safely and to spec.
• Work in line with project requirements, adhering to safety and quality standards.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age
• Valid driver’s license with dependable transportation
• 3-5 years of experience in a commercial mechanical setting with HVAC and/or plumbing installation
• Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings and specifications
• Hospital construction experience preferred

• Welder (Tig): 3-5 years of experience welding stainless steel; proven ability to fit, weld and/or install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures, and equipment; must pass weld test to qualify
• Welder/Fitter: 3-5 years of experience; proven ability to fit, weld and/or install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, fixtures, and equipment; must pass weld test to qualify
• Pipe Fitter: 3-5 years in commercial pipe fitting; solder and braze copper pipe (1/4" to 6"); fit-up schedule 40 steel pipe 2" and above; measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angle using hand/power tools or machines
