Overview
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for Truck Driver.

- Responsible for being knowledgeable of the geographical area assigned and operate the vehicle within state/federal statutes and/or guidelines.
- Read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public.
- Acquire pick-up tickets and complete the route in the most efficient manner.
- Load donations on the truck in an organized manner to maximize pickups per load and minimize damage/breakage.
- Clean and secure the vehicle and equipment; conduct daily inspections of the vehicle’s oil, water, tires, and other items to maintain good operating condition.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the assigned geographical area.
- Ability to organize pick-up tickets and schedule routes in a time- and fuel-saving manner.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a variety of personalities.
- Ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English.
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required, and one year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Valid State Driver’s License
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License, desired but not required.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions.
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and to respond to inquiries and make entries on reports and records.
- Ability to work with a variety of personalities in a positive manner.
- Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck.
- Ability to follow DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Moderate physical effort required: sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects (generally over 100 lbs.) 25-50% of work time.
- Work requires driving outdoors with exposure to weather changes and environmental conditions (rain, cold, snow, heat) and exposure to noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
