* Job Description:

***
* WHO We Are:

** Self-Help started in 1980 with a focus on economic inequality, especially in communities that have faced systemic barriers to building wealth. At the core of what Self-Help does is a drive to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity. In other words, we’re committed to economic justice! Economic Justice means that all communities have the basic infrastructure they need to thrive, from high-quality schools to grocery stores selling fresh food resources that support opportunity at a neighborhood level regardless of demographics, income, or wealth.

Since our founding, we’ve constantly sought to find new ways to pursue greater economic justice: from providing fair and affordable loans to working with partners to demand that lawmakers change unjust policies.
** We are seeking a Director of Business Development to join our team in Connecticut!
***
* Position Summary:

** While this role is similar (in some ways) to business development, fundraising, and sales, our work is centered around building genuine, meaningful relationships and collaborations among mission-aligned organizations and individuals in the community to achieve triple-bottom-line results. To power local results, we consistently seek to build strength and capacity by securing deposits—mission-aligned investments—in accounts like money market and/or term certificates.

You can help us reach our goals and advance our mission by:
Identifying, researching, and qualifying prospective investors. Engaging in the community and building authentic relationships with organizations and people across multiple sectors, e.g., housing, social justice, environmental justice, economic mobility, health equity, economic development, faith-based, high-net-worth individuals, and more. Making requests for values aligned investments and following up. If community development and high-impact outcomes are important to you, consider joining our team to help us make a difference in Connecticut.
*
* WHAT You’ll Do:

*** Develop and implement strategies for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mission-aligned depositors to support the credit union.
* Directly develop and maintain critical relationships with socially responsible and mission-oriented investors.
* This includes but not limited to high-net-worth individuals, mutual funds, SRI funds, nonprofit organizations, faith-based organizations, foundations, banks, universities, financial advisors, and others.
* Maintain familiarity with key internal systems and a general understanding of the various products and services available across the organization.
* Develop support cases and reports for potential depositors and investors including financial and impact due diligence requests and coordinate closely with our credit union leadership, finance team, DPI, executive and special projects staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
* Represent Self-Help through speaking engagements on conference panels, workshops, and webinars. Serve as a “face” of Self-Help to external audiences and partners, and work to increase Self-Help’s overall visibility in a way that supports increased deposit and loan cultivation.
* In conjunction with leadership and Marketing-Communications develop and direct a targeted marketing strategy for deposit outreach, including print and digital/social media platforms.
* Stay attuned to local social, economic, and political issues and community concerns, sharing the impact of those issues and concerns with appropriate Self-Help colleagues in a timely manner so appropriate strategies/actions to address may be developed. Identify and explore opportunities for collaboration and initiating efforts to bring individuals and organizations together that can affect change.
* While bringing these groups together will set agendas, convene, and facilitate assembled groups, when necessary. Initiate and evaluate high impact opportunities through relationship building, asset mapping and other…
