JOB TITLE: Employment Specialist
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, 40 hours/week
SCHEDULED HOURS: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM

The SU Employment Service program provides comprehensive, person-centered services that bridge the gap between behavioral health services and employment services. The program focuses on reducing barriers, enhancing job readiness, fostering supportive employer relationships, and promoting long-term recovery through economic self-sufficiency. This program is an evidenced-based supported employment service to promote and expand employment opportunities for individuals who use DMHAS services who have substance use disorders or co-occurring disorders of mental health and substance use disorders.
Responsibilities- Conducts assessments to identify employment and educational needs.
- Collaborates with individuals to create individualized, person-centered treatment plans and documents clients progress during treatment.
- Uses Motivational Interventions to assist clients in meeting their goals and moving along their paths to recovery, utilizing stage wise interventions.
- Establishes rapport with employers in the community to develop a network to provide employment opportunities.
- Maintains documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
- Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
- Additional duties as required.
- Support individuals with linking and engaging with natural supports (family, friends) or community supports.
- Develop crisis plans for clients and work with other staff to respond to crisis situations as needed.
- Provide skills teaching, such as assisting clients in obtaining/maintaining housing and utilities; learning how to use transportation services, planning and preparing nutritional meals, engaging with family and friends, staying safe in the community, caring for children and other family members, and solving everyday problems.
- Provide intensive skill building interventions and support for self-management, self-advocacy, health and well-being, relapse prevention, and using community resources.
- Participate in family education and support activities.
Education: Bachelors in human services, rehabilitation, or occupational therapy.
Experience: Minimum 2 years experience working with individuals with substance abuse and/or co-occurring mental health issues. Minimum 6 months experience in employment/education and/or psychosocial rehabilitation. Individuals who identify themselves as having a mental illness or substance abuse are encouraged to apply.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Valid driver’s license. Advocacy Unlimited:
Recovery Support Certification recommended for individuals who identify themselves as having a mental illness or substance abuse.

Compensation: $18.00/hr minimum, and up commensurate upon experience. Actual rates are determined at the time of offer and are based off relevant experience, adherence to internal equity policy, program/location differentials, and/or sign-on incentives. For part-time positions, pro-rated based on hours worked.
