South Windsor, CT – $17.00–$18.50 per hour.
Job OverviewThe Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. This includes preparing documented patient records, ensuring patients understand what to expect, and performing patient registration and insurance verification.
Responsibilities- Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
- Performs patient registration in various systems and handles patient monetary responsibilities.
- Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization as needed.
- Pre‑screens patients before procedures, including medical history.
- Supports patient transport to and from exam rooms and assists patient transfer on/off exam table.
- Provides preliminary and post‑procedure instructions to patients.
- Maintains a clean, organized work area and orders supplies as necessary.
- Schedules patient appointments, obtains insurance verification/authorization, and prepares medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
- Documents patient visits accurately in electronic and written records; assists clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
- Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- CPR certification required for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; preferred for Fixed Radiology.
- Valid state driver’s license and ability to work at multiple locations.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Local travel may be required.
- COVID‑19 vaccination may be required.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
- Six months of customer service or related experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive hand movements, see, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.
- Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and balance, and lift patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or exam.
