Job Overview

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. This includes preparing documented patient records, ensuring patients understand what to expect, and performing patient registration and insurance verification.

Responsibilities
  • Greets and assists patients, customers, and visitors in person and over the phone.
  • Performs patient registration in various systems and handles patient monetary responsibilities.
  • Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization as needed.
  • Pre‑screens patients before procedures, including medical history.
  • Supports patient transport to and from exam rooms and assists patient transfer on/off exam table.
  • Provides preliminary and post‑procedure instructions to patients.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area and orders supplies as necessary.
  • Schedules patient appointments, obtains insurance verification/authorization, and prepares medical records for physicians, patients, and customers.
  • Documents patient visits accurately in electronic and written records; assists clinical staff with documentation and image delivery.
  • Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • CPR certification required for Mobile Radiology and Oncology; preferred for Fixed Radiology.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to work at multiple locations.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, and multitasking skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Local travel may be required.
  • COVID‑19 vaccination may be required.
  • Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of customer service or related experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
Physical Requirements
  • More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk, repetitive hand movements, see, speak, and hear to communicate with patients.
  • Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel, crawl, climb and balance, and lift patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or exam.
