The Manager of Engineering is responsible to the Director of Engineering to oversee the daily activities of the Facilities Engineering Department personnel and all functions relating to utilities & utility equipment management, facilities, buildings, grounds, clinical engineering, utilities and related equipment systems. The majority of the day-to-day oversight will be over Rockville General Hospital but will also help with other projects throughout the network based on review and oversight of the director.
Education/Certification- Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent, CHFM Certification or bachelor’s degree in related field strongly preferred.
- S – 2 or P
-2 license preferred. - Licensed in plumbing, electrical or HVAC preferred.
- A Connecticut driver’s license is also required.
- Three to Five years of increasing responsibility in facility maintenance or project management in a health care setting.
- At least Three years’ experience in a supervisory role.
- Familiarity with building maintenance techniques, equipment, and operation of various systems, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and structural.
- Must be familiar with applicable codes, specifically NFPA and building codes, have ability to apply principles of personnel management in the workplace, and be fluently familiar with preventive maintenance management system.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (appropriate as outlined in the Eastern Connecticut Health Network’s Environment of Care Safety Policies and Procedures #110) maintain a driving record free of any violations and pass a safe driving educational program upon hire and annually thereafter.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledgeable in Joint Commission Standards, DPH, CMS, DEEP and OSHA regulations.
- Mid-level computer skills in Excel, basic level computer skills in PowerPoint for presentations and operational skills for the building management system.
- Plans, supervises, coordinates and directs the work of all Supervisors within the department in accordance with Human Resource Policies including evaluations, hiring, discipline, and communications.
- Manages the activities of the Facilities Department. Maintains a 24/7 support coverage and general staffing of the Plant and Engineering Department. Provides performance feedback and intervenes on issues of substandard performance per our HR policies.
- Establishes policies for equipment maintenance and failure support. Maintains an operational multi-million dollar budget and purchasing functions to support all physical plant requirements. Develops and implements the PM program that meets all regulatory agencies (CMS, TJC, and DPH) requirements. Maintains responsibility for plant compliance with DEEP regulations and develops corrective actions and notifications during periods when compliance with such standards has failed.
- Conducts testing programs for insurance requirements, and state and federal programs. Schedules testing elements of the LSC/Joint Commission. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the operational components of fire safety equipment. Documents results and directs corrective action as required by code.
