Security Systems Technician

Location: Connecticut-Based / Northeast Regional Travel

Compensation: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour, based on experience

Employment Type: Full-Time

Grey Matter Technologies is a growing provider of physical security, low-voltage, and technology solutions throughout the Northeast. We design, install, and support access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, network infrastructure, and integrated technology systems for commercial, educational, hospitality, and multifamily clients.

We are seeking a motivated Security Systems Technician who is looking for an opportunity to grow their skills, expand their responsibilities, and build a long-term career with our organization.

The Security Systems Technician will assist with the installation, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic security systems including access control, CCTV, intrusion, and related low-voltage technologies. The ideal candidate has several years of hands-on field experience, can work independently when required, and is comfortable coordinating with customers, subcontractors, and other trades to keep projects moving forward.

• Install and service access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection systems.
• Install and terminate low-voltage cabling and field devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in the field.
• Read and interpret project plans, wiring diagrams, and installation documents.
• Complete system testing and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate day-to-day activities with customers, subcontractors, and project managers.
• Maintain project documentation and communicate job status updates.
• Represent Grey Matter Technologies professionally at customer sites.
• Work independently on assigned service calls and small projects.
• Assist with training and mentoring less experienced technicians as opportunities arise.

• 2-4 years of experience in the electronic security, low-voltage, or related technology industry.
• Experience with access control, video surveillance, intrusion systems, or structured cabling.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and customer service abilities.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift equipment, use ladders, and work in commercial environments.

• Experience with security platforms such as Brivo, Avigilon, Openpath, Lenel, Genetec, or similar systems.
• Experience coordinating work with subcontractors and other trades.
• Basic networking knowledge.
• Industry certifications are a plus.

Grey Matter Technologies serves clients throughout the Northeast, from New Jersey to Southern Maine.

Candidates must be comfortable with:

• Regular day travel throughout the region.
• Occasional overnight travel when project requirements warrant.
• Working at customer locations across multiple states.
