JOB TITLE: Housing Support Specialist II

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full‑time, 40 hours/week

SCHEDULED

HOURS:

Monday‑Friday 8 AM—4 :30 PM

LOCATION:

Rapid Re‑Housing (RRH);
Manchester, CT

ABOUT THE PROGRAM: RRH links families and individuals experiencing homelessness to resources and housing, providing up to 12 months of stabilization support. Referrals come from Greater Hartford or Central Connecticut Coordinated Access Network via 211.

ABOUT THE POSITION: Housing Support Specialist II will deliver direct case management, skill‑based education, client advocacy, and community liaison services to transition clients into stable housing with dignity and independence.

  • Establish rapport with clients and develop housing stabilization plans.
  • Provide skill‑based training and advocacy around benefits, budgeting, medical services, employment, and transportation.
  • Assist clients in completing applications for Husky, Social Security, State Supplements, and other entitlements.
  • Link clients to mental health, substance‑abuse counseling, and DCF services.
  • Advocate with landlords for tenant rights and resolve conflicts.
  • Provide direct assistance with security deposits and limited rental assistance.
  • Maintain outreach and community education, liaising with homeless services, DCF, domestic violence providers, CHR providers, and courts.
  • Assist clients in understanding tenant rights and conducting outcome surveys.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with agency and program standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, supervision, trainings, and other meetings.
  • Additional duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required (Human Services preferred).
  • Experience: 2 years working with the homeless population or families.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid driver’s license.
  • Training: Motivational Interviewing training preferred.

COMPENSATION: $20.65–$20.86/hr minimum, commensurate with experience.
