Special Projects Producer

Job Description

WMUR-TV is looking for a Special Projects Producer who can help oversee our Investigative team and Special Projects. The candidate will lead the team in developing multi‑platform content for broadcast and digital platforms, managing insightful, hard‑hitting stories, documentary‑style packages and special shows.

• Oversight of the preparation of investigative and special projects journalists.
• Pitching, researching, writing and producing investigative and special projects stories and specials.
• Coaching producers, reporters, and photojournalists.
• Responding to breaking investigative news and seeking out investigative angles for top stories.
• Collaborating on digital responses to investigative news and special projects.
• Ensuring strict deadlines are met.
• Maintaining strong news gathering skills.
• Building strong interpersonal relationships.
• Posting stories and videos on digital platforms.
• Maintaining and managing a calendar of special projects.
• Communicating effectively with news staff, promotions, and legal team.
• Attending in‑person as required.
• Being available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

• Demonstrated experience in writing and visual thinking.

• Strong sense of audience desires.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• Ability to multi‑task and coordinate crews and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Ability to summarize information into easy‑to‑understand components.
• Creative presentation style, and ability to showcase all resources and elements.
• Knowledge of media law and making public records requests.
• Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards.
• Proficiency with Adobe Premier editing system is a plus.
