After-School Music Teacher (Community Outreach Programs)
Compensation: $40/hour Job Description

Manchester Community Music School is a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing lives through the power of music. Our mission is to provide access to high-quality music education, performance, and therapy programs for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Manchester Community Music School (MCMS) is seeking dynamic and creative music educators to lead after-school music programs in partnership with local schools and community organizations. The After-School Music Teacher will design and deliver engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate classes that foster creativity, confidence, and joy in music-making. This is an ideal position for a teacher who enjoys working in community-based settings and wants to bring the power of music education to diverse groups of children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and teach after-school music classes tailored to the needs and interests of each group.
  • Develop creative, hands-on lessons using a variety of musical styles, instruments, and tools (e.g., rhythm instruments, ukuleles, singing, movement, music technology, etc.).
  • Foster a welcoming, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with MCMS staff and partner organizations to ensure program quality and consistency.
  • Communicate regularly with the Executive Director regarding attendance, curriculum, and student progress.
  • Represent MCMS professionally and positively in all community settings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Prior teaching experience with children or youth in group settings.
  • Ability to design engaging, creative, and age-appropriate music activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Schedule and Compensation:
    • Schedule:

      1–3 hours per week, 1–3 days per week (depending on program schedule)
    • Pay rate: $40 per hour for teaching time

      Various community partner sites in Greater Manchester, NH
