Skill Bridge Paramedic - North Region
American Medical Response (AMR) is proud to be an authorized provider of the Department of Defense Skill Bridge program, offering U.S. military members the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience in the medical response industry.
Under the Skill Bridge program, AMR hosts active‑duty U.S. Military members for skilled employment training during the final six months of their active‑duty obligated service. The program runs for up to 180 days.
Job DescriptionWe’re hiring Paramedics for our DOD Skill Bridge Program who are passionate about delivering compassionate, high‑quality service and advanced patient care to our customers. The role involves:
Responsibilities- Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action while following progressive Paramedic protocols.
- Utilize your Paramedic skills on medical equipment and procedures—including defibrillators, EKG monitors, oxygen and suction devices, and intravenous fluids—to provide advanced medical care.
- Communicate with patients and loved ones to provide information and assurance that care is being given.
- Act as Paramedic team leader and take responsibility for the scene and unit management as needed.
- Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
- Work collaboratively and professionally with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as fellow Paramedics.
- Participate in community programs to maintain AMR’s image and establish strong community relations.
Required Qualifications
- Current Active‑Duty Service Member.
- Meets DoD Skill Bridge qualifications.
- Available to participate for 90 days.
- Obtain approval from your unit commander and agree that participation can be terminated at any time by the Service if mission requirements dictate.
- Work remotely in the continental U.S.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- State Driver’s License.
- National or State Paramedic Certification (as applicable).
- CPR Certification.
- PALS Certification.
- PHTLS or ITLS Certification.
- Pass Physical Ability Test.
- Driving record in compliance with company policy.
