Job Description

The InSHAPE team is seeking a Mental Health Mentor who has some flexibility around their work hours to be part of a dynamic health and wellness team that supports consumers of mental health services in addressing their nutrition, fitness, and wellness goals. This is a community‑based position working with both youth and adults. Individual sessions will take place in a variety of locations, including participants’ homes, a local gym, outdoor areas, and other settings within the Greater Manchester area.

Requires a valid driver’s license and auto insurance with liability coverage. Certified Personal Trainer certification is preferred at start of position but must be obtained within the first 3 months. Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, health, or nutrition required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with participants to identify individualized health and wellness goals.
  • Provide education and support around nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation, etc.
  • Complete paperwork and physical assessments at baseline, and quarterly thereafter.
  • Develop effective and safe programming for participants in the gym, in their homes, and/or in the community.
  • Manage a caseload of 18‑25 participants.
  • Communicate with case managers, doctors, community organizations, etc.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, health sciences, or education/counseling from an accredited college or university.
  • Personal Trainer Certification is preferred at start or must be obtained within 3 months of start.
  • Mental health and/or Personal Trainer experience.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and auto insurance with liability coverage and reliable car to transport participants.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Education

A bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, health sciences, or education/counseling from an accredited college or university is required.

Qualifications

Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license, an automobile with liability insurance, and a clean background and driving record check.
