Position SummaryThe role of the Injection Mold Setup Technician is under the supervision of the manufacturing group leader. The technician tends to and operates injection molding machines, inspects parts, and performs trimming, drilling, or other processing, cleaning, or maintenance operations. Responsibilities include setting molds and first piece runs, conducting inspections, and assisting with troubleshooting and maintenance of extrusion and injection machines.
Principal Responsibilities- Maintains a clean and organized work area, including daily cleaning and organization of work areas, tools, and surrounding areas. Assists in the cleaning of equipment.
- Identifies 5S opportunities and takes initiative to clean, organize, and improve department cleanliness.
- Interprets production schedules to set up equipment in support of production demand.
- Installs injection molds into molding machines following company procedures.
- Sets up injection molding machines following company procedures.
- Prepares all auxiliary equipment for production support, including but not limited to drying equipment, deburring equipment, and packaging requirements.
- Prepares raw materials for production support.
- Reports labor and production transactions accurately in the ERP system.
- Supports other areas/functions within the department/facility when requested to support production operations.
- Performs equipment start-up and shut-down maintenance and troubleshoots operational issues with tooling, machines, or auxiliary equipment.
- Complies with all organizational, local, and federal safety and health regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-5 years of plastic injection molding operator experience.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Proven experience in successfully setting up and processing injection molding machines.
- Strong communication skills.
- Basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).
- Ability to use basic measuring tools, including but not limited to calipers, height gauges, and comparison charts.
- Ability to use basic processing equipment, including but not limited to drill presses, deburring tools, and cutting pliers.

The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
