Nurse Extern PRN Cardiac Medical Surgical
Join the HCA Healthcare team as a Nurse Extern PRN in our Cardiac Medical Surgical unit.
Job Summary and QualificationsThe Nurse Extern will work under the supervision of a licensed RN, gaining hands‑on experience and providing patient‑centered care. You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, mobility, wound care, specimen collection and other basic nursing procedures while documenting care accurately.
Responsibilities- Assist the nursing staff with patient care, including ADLs, vital signs and mobility tasks.
- Perform nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other basic procedures as you gain experience.
- Document care accurately and communicate updates with the nursing team.
- Educate patients and families about their care plans, medications and follow‑up measures.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection prevention practices.
- Participate in learning opportunities and collaborate with supervisors to develop a personal career development plan.
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure.
- Ability to create and implement a personal career development plan.
- Completion of Nursing Fundamentals.
