Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC has an exciting opportunity for a Non‑Destructive Evaluation Technician, supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. The NDE Technician will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for operating and maintaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Job Summary

The NDE Technician will play an important role in ensuring the safety and reliability of various materials, components, and structures, and welding fabrication using a variety of techniques to detect flaws, imperfections, or changes in material properties that could lead to failure.

Job Duties
  • Performs and assists in nondestructive testing on piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, test hardware, and rocket motors.
  • Utilize various methods to inspect materials and components such as radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing, eddy current testing, infrared thermography, etc. Interpret results, identify and characterize any flaws or anomalies, and document findings in detailed reports.
  • Witness and verify procedural compliance of hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing of piping systems and pressure vessels.
  • Performs In‑Service Inspections (ISI0) of PHMS certified systems, document findings, and assist PHMS engineering in monitoring corrective action.
  • Administer and witness welder performance qualification (WPQ) tests.
  • Maintain inventory, proper maintenance, and calibration of lab equipment as needed.
  • Perform NDT in certified methods at geographically separated units.
  • Conduct tool box inspections.
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School diploma plus a minimum of two years college or technical training.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for employment at AEDC.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology with curriculum in non‑destructive testing and evaluation.
  • 3 years related NDE experience.
  • Qualified and certifiable as Level I/II in magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, radiographic, or visual testing; or pass Level I certification exam for at least one NDT method within 6 months of employment; obtain Industrial radiography Radiation Safety Certification within 24 months; obtain respirator use certification within specified timeframe.
  • Strong understanding or interest in materials science, physics, and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Careful attention to detail.
  • Strong problem‑solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience reading piping drawings.
