Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior System Administrator, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a Senior System Administrator, you will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of IT Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate may be required to occasionally work outside normal business hours.

Job Summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) located at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states.

The mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight test.

Job Duties
  • Deploy, configure, and manage Windows and Linux workstation and server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of the VMware environment, including design, deployment, maintenance, and storage configuration.
  • Automate system configurations, patching, and administrative tasks using Power Shell and Linux shell scripting.
  • Enforce cybersecurity controls, harden systems to DoD standards, manage GPOs, and audit security baselines in partnership with the ISSM.
  • Monitor system performance, execute patch management with tools like SCCM and WSUS, and perform vulnerability remediation.
  • Develop, maintain, and deploy standardized Windows images for enterprise-wide provisioning using WDS, MDT, and SCCM.
  • Provide advanced Tier 2/3 technical support and complex troubleshooting for end‑users across diverse hardware and software platforms.
  • Implement and test robust backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and system resilience.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, implement, and document scalable system improvements and virtualization projects.
  • Develop testing schedules, manage project timelines, and stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT‑related field plus 8–12 years of progressively relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must currently possess or commit to obtaining any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD 8140 within 6 months of hiring date.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with Windows imaging and deployment using WDS, MDT, SCCM, including creation and maintenance of custom images.
  • Deep expertise in configuring and troubleshooting Linux (including Red Hat Enterprise Linux), Windows Server OS, and enterprise storage solutions such as Net App ONTAP and Red Hat IdM.
  • Proficiency in managing DNS, DHCP, and network services in dynamic enterprise environments.
  • Skilled in scripting languages (Power Shell, Bash, Python) for automation and orchestration.
  • Strong understanding of virtualization (VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen Desktop/Xen App).
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SSH) and network security best practices.
