Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be under general supervision and will use blueprints, drawings, or sketches to troubleshoot and repair high‑pressure, complex piping systems. The role involves setting up and operating tools and equipment common to the trade, performing welding, and ensuring compliance with safety requirements.
Job Duties- Locate and position pipes and fittings
- Measure and cut pipes
- Cut threads with pipe dies and stocks
- Fabricate complex pipe work of all types
- Install, modify, repair, and maintain piping systems and sprinkler systems for carrying air, gas, steam, water, sewage, drainage, oil, fuels, and other liquids or gases
- Make flange, bell and spigot, screw, and ring connections
- Install valves
- Paint, coat, insulate, or waterproof pipe when minor repairs or alterations are made
- Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy
- Perform burning and tack welding and other duties as required
- Participate in functional‑specific safety training
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Four (4) years of progressive pipe fitting experience, may include apprenticeship
- Ability to successfully complete Welder Performance Qualification tests in accordance with ASME Section IX for 2‑3/4” diameter x 5/8” thick carbon steel pipe (1/8” GTAW, SMAW, Position 6G)
- Valid state driver's license
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and AEDC local area network access
- Basic and/or advanced rigging training
- Active Secret clearance
