Job Responsibilities

Maintain the accounts via Xero accounting software. Raise sales invoices as necessary. Process purchase invoices and pay as appropriate. Through the bank account (linked to Xero) ensure payments and receipts are recorded accurately. Submit Gift Aid claims to HMRC. Ensure accruals / prepayments are up to date at each month end. Preparation of monthly financial report for review and discussion with the Treasurer.

Estimate it will be one day a week needed.

What additional skills or experience you should have
  • Prior experience in a bookkeeping/accounting role.
  • Knowledge of payroll.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Xero would be useful but not essential) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Able to work by themselves with good organisational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the charity.

Your work directly supports getting clothes, shoes, and essentials to people in crisis—refugees, families, care leavers, people rebuilding their lives. Good bookkeeping = more donations used properly = more people helped. You’re not just “doing accounts,” you’re powering the mission.

Location: at home but occasional face‑to‑face meetings

Remote

Age limit: Volunteers aged 18 or over

Hours per session: Between 5 and 10 hours

Availability: Flexible OR Ongoing

Times available: Morning, Afternoon, Evening

Days available: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

We are happy to be flexible on location and/or times if required.

Charity Goods For Good

GOODS FOR GOOD sends clothing and toiletries donated by generous businesses and individuals to asylum seekers, refugees, homeless and the vulnerable. We have 111 UK charity partners through which these are distributed. We also send regular consignments to registered charities overseas in countries like Iraq, Ukraine, Moldova, Syria, Kurdistan, Israel, Poland, Romania and Turkey.
