The Audit Senior plays a key role in delivering high‑quality audits across a diverse client portfolio. The role exists to lead fieldwork, supervise junior team members, and ensure audit files meet the firm’s technical, quality and compliance standards. Acting as a key point of contact for clients, the Audit Senior contributes to efficient planning, execution and completion of audit engagements while supporting continuous improvement across the audit function.
Key Responsibilities- Lead audit fieldwork across a range of clients, ensuring delivery in line with ISA requirements and firm methodology.
- Plan audit assignments with the Audit Manager, including risk assessment, scoping and determining appropriate testing strategies.
- Monitor budgets and flag overruns to manager.
- Prepare and review high‑quality audit working papers, ensuring they are fully cross‑referenced, logically structured and ready for manager/partner review.
- Identify audit issues and areas of risk early, escalating appropriately and proposing practical, commercially‑focused solutions.
- Draft key audit deliverables including financial statements, completion reports, management letters and audit summaries.
- Act as the main client contact during fieldwork, managing information requests, resolving queries and maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Supervise, coach and mentor trainees and semi‑seniors, providing on‑the‑job training and constructive feedback.
- Monitor budgets and timelines to ensure assignments are delivered efficiently and within agreed parameters.
- Support the Audit Manager in finalising audit files, ensuring all review points are cleared promptly.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance audit processes and client service.
- Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of FRS 102, auditing standards and regulatory developments.

Clients, professional advisers, regulators (where applicable)
- Minimum 3 years’ audit experience within a practice environment.
- Proven experience leading fieldwork and reviewing junior work.
- Experience managing multiple assignments and working to tight deadlines.
- Strong technical knowledge of FRS 102, auditing standards and core audit methodology.
- Confident using audit software and cloud accounting platforms (e.g., Xero, Quick Books).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information and identify key risks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong client relationships.
- ACA/ACCA finalist or qualified
- Progress toward ACA/ACCA qualification with strong exam record
- High‑quality audit delivery and technical accuracy.
- Strong client feedback and relationship management.
- Effective supervision and development of junior team members.
- Consistent adherence to technical, quality and compliance standards.
- Contribution to team culture, collaboration and continuous improvement.
