Tobe responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective use of the appointment system, booking appointments, processing of information and assisting patients as required. To act as the central point ofcontact for patients, the distribution of information, messages, and enquiries for the clinical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
Mainduties of the job
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
- Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
- Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Signpostpatients to the correct service
- Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
- Readcode data on Emis Web Clinical System
- Photocopydocumentation as required
- Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
- Inputdata into the patients healthcare records as necessary
- Directrequests for information i.e., SAR, insurance / solicitors letters and DVLAforms to the administrative team
- Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner
- Carryout system searches as requested
- Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
- Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
We are a friendly, supportive GP practice based in Harpurhey, Manchester, currently looking to recruit a Medical Receptionist to join our friendly team, 30 to 37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
Previous experience as a GP receptionist or in a similar medical setting preferred
Basic IT skills, with experience using EMIS Web preferred.
Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
The day-to-day operations of the surgery are managed by our Practice Manager and Senior Administrator who ensures a friendly, welcoming and professional atmosphere for both staff and our patients.
The position is available for both full-time and part-time schedules, offering a salary of £12.21 per hour. This will be under review after a successful probation period.
A Bonus Scheme is available after 12 months of employment. This bonus is performance related.

Qualifications- GCSE A TO C in Maths and English
- Experience of working with the general public
- Experience of Administrative Duties
- High Levels of Integrity and Loyalty
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong IT Skills
- Experience using EMIS Clinical System
- Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
- Forward Thinker
- Experience of working in a Health Care Setting
