Evening Ward Clerk - Ward F9

The Evening Ward Clerk sits in the ward team on Ward F9 (OAU, A9) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, within its administration team. The work centres on clerical and patient liaison tasks, from keeping relatives updated and arranging patients' attendance on the ward to handling calls and updating the Hive system. It is a busy, customer-facing post with no two days alike, working alongside consultants, doctors and nurses.

Customer service or healthcare experience and strong IT skills are essential.

• Give updates to patients' relatives and loved ones as the point of liaison
• Work with the MDT to complete tasks to a high standard and on time
• Provide a comprehensive clerical service to patients
• Arrange and facilitate patients' attendance on the ward
• Update the Hive system
• Answer and respond to telephone calls professionally and promptly
• Order relevant paperwork and stationery
• Use IT and communication equipment for call handling and data input
• Work flexibly and methodically across a varying workload
• Work within policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines, and improve working practice where necessary

• A good level of general education
