The Northern Care Alliance (NCA) is looking to recruit a pro‑active, self‑motivated and ambitious Category Buyer to join our team. Working as an integral part of the Procurement Department, the post holder will support and ultimately lead on a portfolio of procurement projects within the strategic sourcing team, contributing to the development and achievement of the procurement strategy and work plan.
The role is predominantly home‑based but requires flexibility to work from Trust offices and across NCA sites as needed. Training and support are offered to successful candidates.
Key Responsibilities- Work under the guidance of senior managers to provide a responsive and flexible service.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders to influence choice, prioritise change, and deliver value for money, added benefits, standardisation and process improvement.
- Make autonomous decisions to improve procurement processes and share best practice within the department.
- Maintain awareness of all legislation, policy and guidance related to competitive tendering, contract awards and compliance.
- Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement (MCIPS), working towards or with a desire to work towards membership.
- General education including GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of Procurement Customer Care and Supply Chain Management.
- Knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions of contract and SFI compliance.
- Awareness of all legislation, policy and guidance on competitive tendering, contract awards and compliance.
- Understanding of category management and competitive tendering procedures under Public Contract Regulations.
- Evidence of good communication, organisational, time‑management and prioritisation skills.
- Proficiency with IT systems and analytical problem‑solving skills.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Project management qualification.
- Information Technology qualification.
- Experience working within Public Sector Procurement.
- Experience in a large organisation’s procurement function.
