Overview
The Health & Safety Coordinator role in Manchester supports Onward’s commitment to safe working environments. This full-time position offers £31,350 per annum and involves implementing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and delivering staff training. The coordinator will monitor compliance with legislation, investigate incidents, and promote a positive safety culture across the organisation. Key skills include knowledge of health and safety regulations, strong communication, and meticulous attention to detail.
Whatyou'll do
- Compliance and Governance: support the implementation of company Health and Safety policies, maintain and update management systems, documentation and records, ensure information is accurate and accessible.
- Risk Management:
coordinate risk assessments, assist with incident management processes, monitor actions arising from audits, inspections and investigations, support timely completion of corrective actions. - Incident Management: record, triage and monitor workplace incidents, near misses and hazards; allocate to the appropriate Health and Safety Business Partner and manager for investigation; track actions through to completion; produce basic incident data analysis and trend reports.
- Administration and Coordination: maintain Health and Safety databases, logs and registers; manage the Health and Safety inbox and respond to queries; provide administrative support for meetings, minute taking and action tracking; assist with reports and meeting papers.
- Essential: strong organisational and administrative skills; excellent attention to detail and accuracy; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to take initiative and manage competing priorities; proficient IT skills (Word and Excel); experience taking minutes and supporting meetings; genuine interest in health and safety; full UK driving license and willingness to travel between sites.
- Experience working within a Health and Safety function or team; experience using Housing Management Systems and/or Health and Safety Management Systems; experience producing reports and analysing data trends.
- Essential: GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
- Desirable:
Introduction-level Health and Safety qualification or training (such as IOSH Working Safely) or working towards a recognised Health and Safety qualification.
