We are looking for a highly analytical and organised Stock Controller to join a busy Commercial team. This is a commercially focused role responsible for managing stock levels, forecasting demand and ensuring product availability across multiple retail customers. Working closely with Sales, Merchandising, Product Development, Shipping, Warehousing and overseas factories, you will play a key role in ensuring the right products are available at the right time whilst optimising stock investment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, analysing trends and using Excel to influence commercial decisions.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys solving problems with data. You’ll naturally ask questions, challenge assumptions and use analysis to support commercial decisions. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional accuracy.

Hybrid working – 3 days in the office a week.

Responsibilities Stock Planning & Forecasting
  • Analyse weekly, monthly and annual sales data to identify trends and forecast future demand.
  • Work closely with Merchandisers and Sales Administration teams to ensure customer forecasts and requirements are achieved.
  • Manage stock allocation across customers to maximise availability whilst maintaining healthy stock levels.
  • Maintain and update customer forecasts.
  • Review and investigate forecast exceptions.
  • Work with internal teams to plan stock requirements for promotions and seasonal events.
  • Monitor stock clearance and identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory.
  • Raise factory purchase orders and manage production requirements, including minimum order quantities, dyed fabric and greige commitments.
  • Liaise with overseas factories to ensure purchase orders are delivered within agreed lead times.
  • Work closely with Shipping and Warehousing teams to optimise container utilisation and warehouse deliveries.
New Product Planning
  • Plan initial purchase quantities for new product launches using sales ratios and historical performance.
  • Monitor forward sales orders to identify replenishment requirements.
  • Plan repeat buys based on customer demand and sales forecasts.
  • Work closely with the Product Development team to monitor the Critical Path and ensure launch dates are achieved.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Produce month-end sales and stock reports.
  • Issue weekly delivery schedules to Merchandising and Sales Administration teams.
  • Produce regular out-of-stock reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare ad hoc commercial reports and analysis for Sales Managers and Directors.
  • Identify sales trends, stock risks and opportunities through detailed analysis.
Commercial Reviews
  • Attend monthly commercial review meetings with Directors and Sales Managers.
  • Analyse stock turn and inventory performance.
  • Identify:
    Fast sellers, Slow sellers, Overstock risks, Understock risks
  • Make recommendations to improve stock availability and maximise sales opportunities.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP SUMIF/SUMIFS IF statements.
  • Working confidently with large datasets
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of decisions.
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of the business.
  • Experience with in stock planning, merchandising, supply chain, inventory control or commercial analysis would be advantageous.
