Role Overview :

Are you looking to start your career in HR and Organisational Development while gaining a recognised professional qualification?

This is an exciting opportunity to join Oldham Council as an Organisational Development Apprentice, supporting projects and initiatives that help our people, teams and services thrive. As part of the OD team, you'll work alongside experienced professionals and play a key role in delivering training, engagement, wellbeing and organisational change activities that make a real difference across the Council.

Working towards a CIPD-accredited apprenticeship qualification, you'll gain valuable hands‑on experience while developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for a successful career in HR and Organisational Development. No two days are the same. One day you might be supporting the delivery of a leadership development programme, and the next helping to coordinate events, employee engagement activities or organisation-wide projects.

This role offers the chance to build your confidence, work with colleagues from across the organisation and contribute to projects that support workforce development, wellbeing and organisational improvement. You'll receive support throughout your apprenticeship and have opportunities to take ownership of your own work, develop new skills and build a strong foundation for your future career.

If you're enthusiastic, organised and keen to learn, we'd love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative and project support across a range of Organisational Development activities and projects.
  • Coordinate training sessions, workshops, events and meetings, including room bookings, invitations and logistics.
  • Support the administration of the Me Learning platform and manage enquiries through the OD mailbox.
  • Assist with communications, engagement activities, SharePoint administration and project delivery.
  • Support employee wellbeing initiatives, staff networks and organisational change programmes.
Key Requirements:
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to use IT systems and Microsoft Office applications effectively.
  • A willingness to learn and successfully complete a CIPD apprenticeship qualification.
