About the Role

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing care, support, and guidance to children and young people within a residential care facility. You will work collaboratively with a team of dedicated professionals to create a safe and nurturing environment where children and young people can thrive and develop. Your primary responsibility will be to empower and advocate for the children and young people in your care, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well‑being.

Responsibilities
  • Enable children/young people to establish their own identity within their home environment.
  • Ensure that the wishes and feelings of children/young people are considered in all aspects of their daily care and in accordance with their age and understanding.
  • Support children/young people to pursue appropriate interests of their choice while ensuring their safety and well‑being.
  • Assist children/young people in maintaining meaningful relationships with those important to them.
  • Help children/young people establish, develop, and maintain relationships and social networks outside of the home.
  • Provide opportunities for children/young people to learn, develop, and reach their full potential through access to education and enriching experiences.
  • Promote the health and well‑being of children/young people while raising awareness of factors that can impact their well‑being.
  • Advocate for and respect the racial, cultural, and religious backgrounds of the children/young people.
  • Develop, monitor, and review care plans, including risk assessments, in collaboration with the young person and relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare and support young people for independence, equipping them with life skills.
  • Ensure effective communication at all levels and adapt communication styles as needed.
  • Provide children/young people with forums and support for active participation in decisions about their lives and the home environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records in compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Share necessary information with appropriate parties while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Recognise signs of abuse and harm and respond in a sensitive and appropriate manner.
  • Support children/young people in navigating social media and internet safety.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, other professionals, and agencies to benefit the young person.
  • Facilitate and contribute to team decision‑making and problem‑solving.
