Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Clerk of Works for our client a government organisation in Southampton, England. The successful post holder will check and monitor construction work carried out on behalf of the organisation, ensuring quality control and that the completed work is compliant with the specified standards, and is carried out in accordance with appropriate legislation, professional standards, and the organisations policies and procedures.
This role is a temporary contract initially for 3 months with the possibility to extend.
- To undertake site monitoring duties for major refurbishment and/or new build construction projects across the organisation's operational, service, housing, and investment properties
- To carry out site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with the contract specification and drawings, current legislation, and organisation procedures, standards and policy.
- To maintain up to date and accurate records and produce site reports related to projects.
- To monitor the contractors performance making such inspections as may be necessary.
- To undertake continuous improvement activity to improve the effectiveness of services.
- To liaise with the project contract administrator, project manager and cost manager as required.
- Taking action to address risks including escalating risks and taking action to eliminate, reduce, or delay.
- To undertake Health and Safety monitoring on site.
- Professional Membership of the Institute of Clerk of Works and/or:
- HND in Construction, Surveying or similar relevant qualification, and/or:
- Evidence of substantial construction knowledge gained over a significant period within a trade or construction background, with responsibilities associated with Site Inspection.
- Clean Driving Licence.
- Enhanced DBS.
Working Hours: 37hrs / Monday - Friday
Pay: £27.52 per hour
