Overview

As a Quantity Surveyor in our Complex Projects team based in Manchester, you will provide high‑quality commercial and cost management support across complex and high‑profile infrastructure programmes. You will work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure robust cost control, strong commercial governance, and value for money throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver cost planning, estimating, and budget management from feasibility through to final account.
  • Administer and manage NEC contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, and change control.
  • Prepare accurate cost forecasts, cash flows, and monthly commercial reports.
  • Support procurement activities including tender documentation, analysis, and contract preparation.
  • Manage contractor accounts, including valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Provide commercial advice and challenge to support informed project decision‑making.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
  • Support value management, benchmarking, and cost assurance activities.
Qualifications
  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of commercial management and cost control processes.
  • Working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Ability to analyse cost data and communicate commercial risks clearly.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and collaborative working skills.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Working towards or holding RICS (or equivalent) accreditation is desirable.

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
