Contracts Manager - Groundworks & Civil Engineering
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure packages for leading house builders across the North West.
Due to continued growth, the business is looking to appoint a third Contracts Manager to oversee a number of established site teams and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
This is a hands‑on management role suited to someone with a strong background in residential groundworks who enjoys leading teams, maintaining client relationships, and driving operational performance.

The Role
  • Oversee approximately 10-11 two-man site teams operating across multiple live projects.
  • Manage groundworks and civil engineering packages for national and regional house builders.
  • Plan, programme and coordinate works to ensure projects are delivered on time.
  • Lead and motivate site teams, ensuring productivity and quality standards are maintained.
  • Carry out regular site visits across Lancashire and the wider North West.
  • Liaise with clients, site managers and commercial teams.
  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety legislation.
  • Monitor labour, plant and materials to maximise efficiency.
  • Resolve operational issues and provide technical support where required.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Contracts Manager within groundworks and civil engineering.
  • Strong residential groundworks experience working for house builders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong planning, organisational and communication abilities.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Full UK driving licence.
