Job Overview
A remote Clerk of Works role covering residential and commercial projects across Manchester, including new-build and refurbishment schemes. Suitable for an experienced site inspection or construction quality professional, the position involves monitoring workmanship, materials, compliance and progress from foundations through to final snagging. You will work independently from home, travel to allocated sites and act as the main client contact for construction quality matters.
Role & Responsibilities
Inspect residential and commercial construction projects
Monitor workmanship, materials and project requirements
Identify defects, incomplete work and quality concerns
Produce detailed reports after every site inspection
Manage inspection schedules across multiple projects
You will communicate findings clearly with clients, contractors and internal project teams, supporting the effective delivery of Clerk of Works services.
Skills & Experience Required
Previous Clerk of Works or site inspection experience
Strong residential new-build inspection experience
Knowledge of construction materials, trades and methods
Ability to identify defects and snagging issues
Proficiency in Microsoft Office reporting tools
Experience with in a consultancy is preferred. Relevant housing association, local authority, quality management or warranty inspection backgrounds will also be considered.
Salary & Benefits
Salary up to £49,000
Company car or £5,000 car allowance
Mileage paid at 45p per mile
25 days' holiday, increasing to 30
Pension, life assurance and wellbeing support
Remote working is provided, with regular travel to project sites.
