Quantity Surveyor​/Project Manager

Position: Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager
An established independent property and construction consultancy in Manchester is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor with Project Management experience as it continues to grow and broaden its service offering.

This is an opportunity to join a small, experienced and director-led consultancy, working directly with developers, investors and occupiers across a varied UK property portfolio.

The business already provides Project Management, Development Management, Development Monitoring and Building Surveying services and is now looking to further develop its Quantity Surveying / Cost Management offering.

Rather than joining a large, established QS department, you’ll have the opportunity to play a key role in shaping this side of the business, developing client relationships and, longer term, helping to grow a team around you. There is also early equity potential for the right person.

The Projects

The consultancy works across a diverse portfolio of new-build, refurbishment and redevelopment projects, including:

* Commercial & workplace

* Residential / Build to Rent

* PBSA

* Industrial & logistics

* Retail & leisure

* Hotels and hospitality

Projects range from major city-centre refurbishment and workplace schemes to new-build industrial developments and large-scale residential programmes.

The Role

You’ll take responsibility for the commercial delivery of projects while also using your broader Project Management experience to support clients throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities will include:

* Cost planning, estimating and budget management

* Procurement and tendering

* Contract administration and commercial management

* Cost reporting, valuations, variations and final accounts

* Supporting projects from feasibility and pre-construction through to completion

* Coordinating consultants and contractors

* Programme, risk and project reporting

* Leading client and project meetings

* Providing commercial advice directly to clients

* Supporting wider Project Management commissions

* Helping develop and grow the consultancy’s QS offering

About You

This would suit a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Manager who has broader Project Management experience and enjoys working directly with clients.

You’ll ideally have:

* Consultancy-side Quantity Surveying / Cost Management experience

* Experience working across multiple stages of the project lifecycle

* Good commercial and contractual knowledge

* Project Management or broader project delivery experience

* Strong client-facing and communication skills

* The confidence to manage your own projects and client relationships

* An interest in helping develop a growing service line

* MRICS or progress towards Chartership would be advantageous
