Children’s & Education is the BBC department responsible for media content for children across the UK. We deliver our mission to inform, educate and entertain through trusted brands like CBeebies, CBBC and Bitesize. As an apprentice, you’ll support the creation of engaging content and campaigns — helping with planning, logistics and production in a fast‑paced, creative team that’s passionate about reaching young audiences across digital, broadcast and educational platforms.

Working with experienced production management professionals, you’ll learn best practice and look for ways to continually improve and set the standard for future generations of BBC programme makers in creating quality content for TV, audio, online and digital platforms.

YOUR

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

As a Production Manager apprentice with Children’s & Education, this is a brilliant opportunity to build on your previous industry experience or utilise transferable managerial skills to media environments – you may:

  • Assist with call sheets and booking kit, crew and contributors
  • Help manage budgets, and track spend
  • Learn best practices in production management, health & safety, and compliance.
  • Support the planning and logistics of digital content, including social media campaigns, educational games, and projects like CBeebies Parenting or the Bitesize Schools Tour

You’ll study for your industry‑recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor‑led workshops; tutorial sessions; presentations and group work. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be asked to gather a portfolio of evidence and work on an end‑point assessment that demonstrates your learning, while working toward a Level 6 apprenticeship qualification.

This apprenticeship will give you a thorough knowledge and understanding of Production Management and the media Industry, which you can then utilise during your time at the BBC and afterwards in the wider industry.
