Rolepurpose
The main purpose of this role is to enhance the School's online presence by creating compelling content that promotes teaching, research, student experience and public engagement.
Responsibilities- Produce digital content including written materials, blog posts, social media content, and multimedia assets (e.g. images, short videos, podcasts).
- Translate academic research and activities into accessible and engaging formats for diverse audiences.
- Support the development of campaigns to promote programmes, events, and initiatives across the School of English.
- Manage and contribute to the School's social media channels (e.g. Instagram, Linked In).
- Monitor engagement and respond to queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify trends and opportunities to increase reach and audience interaction.
- Collaborate with academic staff and employability team to develop digital campaigns.
- Support recruitment, outreach, and student experience initiatives through targeted content.
- Contribute to live event coverage (e.g. open days, guest lectures, conferences).
- Provide reports and recommendations to improve future content and campaigns.
It is expected that the assessment centre will consist of networking with Hiring Managers to discuss their roles, and a group task.
About the SchoolThe School of English - recently expanded to incorporate programmes in Languages, Information and Communications, and Performance, as well as Literature, Film and Media, and Creative Writing - is seeking a creative and motivated Digital Content Creator to support the development and delivery of engaging digital content across multiple platforms for the School of English. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a passion for storytelling, combined with strong digital media skills.
Candidaterequirements
This role is only open to those who graduated from a Manchester Met undergraduate course in June 2025 and are not currently studying, nor have previously studied, on a postgraduate course.
Essential- Good written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.
- Demonstrable experience creating digital content (e.g. portfolio, blog, social media work).
- Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality outputs.
- Experience using design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Basic video editing and/or audio production skills.
- Understanding of accessibility and inclusive communication practices.
