Opportunity Overview

The University of Salford is home to one of the UK’s largest centres of teaching and research in journalism.

We are recruiting a graduate intern to join us at Media City, to spend a year as the editor of Salford Now, our multiplatform journalism outlet for the city of Salford.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational journalist with a fast-developing record of creating original journalism across media.

You must be a qualified journalist who has recently completed, or is about to finish, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Salford.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acting as the editor of our Salford Now website, email newsletter and associated social channels
  • Developing story ideas and creating original journalism from and about the city of Salford
  • Producing high-quality storytelling across platforms
  • Helping staff colleagues and student journalists, especially during live newsdays
  • Identifying new opportunities to develop Salford Now and its profile
