This is a rare opportunity to join Cloud Imperium Games in the exciting, challenging and rewarding world of Performance Capture. In this role, you will be working in a state-of-the-art performance capture studio, on one of the largest sound stages in the UK. This opening is a unique chance to work in a dynamic, engaging position experiencing wildly varied shoots with incredible talent, and a depth which encompasses every aspect of the motion capture pipeline.

What do our Senior Motion Capture Specialists do?
  • Influence all aspects of performance capture shoots, including:
    • Preparing talent for capture with precision and attention to wellbeing and actor comfort
    • Calibration and body capture with our Optitrack system, responsible for data quality, take management, team communication and backups
    • Fitting, aiming and recording facial performances using Faceware HMCs and collaborating with the Facial Animation team to optimise footage
    • Set up and operate our in-house realtime solution, streaming live data into our game engine. Work alongside Directors, Designers and Animators managing characters, props, levels, animation and cameras throughout live shoots
    • Prop building and set construction using timber and scaffolding systems
  • Manage and maintain the motion capture system and stage. Test and troubleshoot issues, actively participate and contribute to innovative solutions and improvements, embracing new technology and development
  • Trim, track, solve and retarget motion capture data utilising strong attention to detail and commitment to achieving the highest standards of quality
  • Actively pursue technological advances and practice improvements through prescribed and self-initiated R&D
What do we expect from our Senior Motion Capture Specialists?
  • Proven experience working in motion capture, television, theatre or film productions
  • On-set and post experience using Motive, Shogun or equivalent optical capture software
  • In-depth experience working with Motion Builder or other 3D software packages
  • Confident and composed in active, fast-paced environments
  • Team-orientated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills working with a variety of personalities
  • Solution-focused individual with the ability to react to challenges with both openness and urgency
  • Highly time-proficient, capable of providing accurate time estimates and exceptionally efficient with workload balancing and prioritisation
  • Ability to gather, analyse, and act on feedback. Openness to critique and willingness to improve
  • Strong work ethic and motivation to facilitate and meet high expectations during challenging shoot days
Pluses
  • Experience supervising or floor-managing shoots
  • Clear leadership qualities and proficiency managing a team
  • Hands‑on familiarity with building and maintaining motion capture systems
