JD Sports has been a leading omni‑channel retailer in sports and outdoor industry since 1981. The role of Ecommerce Photographer is based at The Sharp Project, Manchester, with occasional support at JD’s Distribution Centre footwear studio.
Role OverviewThe Photographer is accountable for producing high‑quality, on‑brand imagery for our e‑commerce platforms, ensuring accurate product capture with visual impact. Working in a fast‑paced studio environment, you will collaborate with stylists, creatives, and retouchers to deliver commercially focused photography that supports the customer journey and drives sales.
Key Responsibilities- Capture high‑quality e‑commerce images in line with style guides, updating and maintaining guides seasonally.
- Manage daily shoot schedules, meeting productivity, quality, and cost‑per‑product targets while ensuring imagery is live within agreed time frames.
- Prepare and maintain sets, equipment, and lighting; perform tests, troubleshoot issues, and ensure studio procedures are followed.
- Collaborate with stylists, retouchers, and content teams to select the strongest images and deliver assets that meet creative and commercial needs.
- Support idea generation, new techniques, and innovation in photography outputs, contributing to meetings and reviews.
- Ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and communication of shoot progress and asset delivery.
- Mentor and assist other team members, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across studio functions.
- Maintain an organised and safe studio environment, ensuring efficient close‑down and kit return.
- Proactively resolve discrepancies, adapt to last‑minute briefs, and demonstrate resilience in a fast‑paced environment.
- Provide occasional support to the Distribution Centre footwear studio.
- Strong technical skills in digital photography, studio lighting, and composition.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, high‑volume e‑commerce or commercial studio.
- Proficiency with industry‑standard cameras, lenses, and capture‑one software.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring colour accuracy and brand consistency.
- Ability to manage time effectively, meet daily shoot targets, and work to tight deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills with stylists, retouchers, and wider studio teams.
- Knowledge of current photography trends and ability to adapt style as required.
- Organised, proactive, and able to troubleshoot technical or workflow issues quickly.
