Visitor Engagement Co‑ordinator

Supports and develops the Visitor Engagement Team, ensuring consistent, high‑quality experiences for all visitors. Works closely with the Visitor Team Manager and other coordinators in day‑to‑day line management, communication, and staffing through clear rotas. Also supports team training, contributes ideas to enhance visitor engagement and leads by example in delivering a calm, professional, and welcoming service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day‑to‑day line management and effective communication within the Visitor Engagement Team.
  • Ensure the gallery is appropriately staffed by creating and managing rotas.
  • Support team training and development.
  • Contribute ideas to enhance visitor engagement and experience.
  • Assist with first aid and fire evacuation procedures and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Lead by example in maintaining high standards of visitor care, safety and presentation.
  • Deliver calm, professional, welcoming service to all visitors.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience of supervising, supporting, and line‑managing staff.
  • Experience in a visitor‑facing, customer service or engagement role, ideally within a cultural, heritage, leisure or public‑facing environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills, communicating confidently, clearly and warmly with a wide range of visitors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to deal calmly and professionally with challenging situations.
  • Ability to lead by example and maintain high standards of visitor care, safety and presentation.
  • Experience of creating rotas and contributing to staffing plans.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues across teams.
Desirable Requirements
  • Understanding of inclusive visitor engagement and welcoming audiences from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • Interest in arts, culture and creativity, and confidence to discuss exhibitions, events and the wider cultural scene.
  • Experience of first aid, fire safety or emergency procedures in a public‑facing environment.
