Rehoming and Fostering Admissions Support Volunteer (Manchester)
Are you passionate about helping pets that are most in need? Can you engage with people that might be in challenging circumstances whilst demonstrating your emotional intelligence? We’re looking for dedicated volunteers to support our admissions process – assisting our teams to help some of the most vulnerable pets by placing them with one of our care services. Whilst volunteering you might find yourself taking the history of a pet, arranging an admissions appointment with an owner or working with a host of other charities dealing with hoarding cases.
There’s no shortage of people and pets in need of our help but we can be flexible around your availability. This role will be directly supporting our Admissions Coordinators, helping them in managing people and pets in need of our services. You’ll be joining a fantastic team and will be able to see first‑hand how your work directly impacts pets in need of help.

Why we want youSick, injured and homeless pets have relied on Blue Cross for help since 1897. Our Blue Cross Rehoming and Fostering team help thousands of pets each year, many of these through finding new homes via our rehoming sites. This makes our Admissions teams vital to communicating with owners and pets in need of our help. We’re searching for people that can support our Admissions Coordinators at our sites with managing the people needing our help and bringing the pets into our care.
This might be through initial communication with people in need of our help through emails or phone calls, taking down notes about pets before they come into our care or helping admit pets into our services before they can go to their new homes.

- Good questioning skills with the ability to gather information and distil the important points
- Willingness to learn and follow Blue Cross procedures
- You’ll be actively helping pets in need
- You’ll be joining a great team of like‑minded people
- We’re flexible and can work around your availability
- Increasing your skills, knowledge and understanding of pet welfare in a rescue environment
- Enhance your CV
- Developing communication and customer service skills in an emotive environment
