An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the multi‑award winning Energy & Sustainability Team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust as a Waste Officer.

You will be responsible for monitoring waste services, undertaking waste audits and ensuring legislative compliance as part of a team across MFT's sites. You will manage a variable workload, work as part of a team and be committed to ensuring high standards.

• Support the implementation of waste and other sustainability initiatives.
• Identify and deliver projects to reduce waste and improve segregation.
• Provide waste management support across the Trust, requiring work from various Trust sites.

The cost of a successful DBS application is recoverable from the salary within the first three months of employment if you are successful and join us.

If you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

• Experience working within an estates or facilities environment.
• Experience of waste monitoring procedures.
• Experience of waste auditing.
• Experience delivering training and instructions to small groups of staff.

• Knowledge of NHS waste guidance and UK waste legislation.
• Ability to manage a variable workload.
• Ability to use initiative and work unsupervised.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to identify any issues requiring escalation.
• Understanding of statutory compliance importance and experience delivering related services.
• Ability to compile concise and accurate management reports.

£32,073 to £39,043 per annum, pro rata.
