Health Technology Assessment AnalystThe closing date is 12 July 2026
This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in evidence-based practice, experience in analysing and interpreting complex data alongside a solid understanding of health technology assessment (HTA), including the principles of cost-effectiveness, evidence-based healthcare, critical appraisal and evidence synthesis.
As a HTA Analyst you will:- be responsible for the development, and quality assurance of NICE technology appraisal guidance, providing technical oversight and leading the assessment of clinical and cost-effectiveness of pharmaceuticals.
- work with multiple stakeholders including academic groups, industry, patient organisations and NICE committees.
- be responsible for writing high-quality technology appraisal guidance, ensuring it is robust, transparent and impactful.
- contribute to the development of methods and technical practice, working with colleagues across the team and the wider organisation.

NICE is currently recruiting across analytical roles, including Technical Analysts in our Centre for Guidelines. Candidates with an interest in guideline development may wish to consider applying to both opportunities.
As a HTA Analyst you will be the technical lead on technology appraisals or highly specialised technology appraisals, applying technical expertise in health technology assessment to support evidence-based decision making. Working within a supportive and collaborative environment, you will:
- Lead the scoping of technology appraisal and highly specialised technology evaluations.
- Work closely with external assessment (academic) groups to ensure complex problems are solved.
- Critically assess clinical and cost-effectiveness evidence, including making judgements on whether all aspects of health economic modelling have been appropriately considered.
- Prepare presentations collating, analysing and synthesising highly complex health economic evidence for multidisciplinary committees in a clear, accessible and engaging way.
- Present and explain complex findings to multidisciplinary committees and advising the appraisal committee in its discussion of the evidence.
- Prepare guidance for publication, including the appropriate use of technical language in a clear and accessible way.
You will take responsibility for delivering high-quality work across multiple topics, working independently while collaborating closely with colleagues. You will also support and guide less experienced staff where appropriate, while continuing to develop your own expertise and contribute to improving health and care outcomes through evidence-based guidance.

Within NICE's Medicines Evaluation programme, Topic Delivery Teams work with 4 Technology Appraisal and 1 Rare Diseases committee to develop Technology Appraisals and Highly Specialised Technologies guidance.
Each Topic Delivery Team is led by an Associate Director and includes 5 to 7 HTA analysts, 3 to 4 HTA Advisers, a Principle Technical Adviser, Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and an Administrator. The Medicines Evaluation programme publishes between 90-100 pieces of medicines guidance every year.
