We are a design‑led architecture practice based in Manchester, working across residential, commercial, mixed‑use and regeneration projects throughout the UK. Our in‑house planning team plays a key role in shaping projects from early feasibility through to delivery, working closely with architects, urban designers and clients.
The RoleWe are seeking a Planning Consultant to join our growing Manchester studio. The successful candidate will provide planning advice across a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting design teams and clients through the planning process and helping to deliver high‑quality, commercially viable and policy‑compliant schemes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide planning advice at all stages of the development process, from site appraisal and feasibility to determination and post‑consent matters
- Prepare, manage and submit planning applications, including supporting statements and documentation
- Undertake planning policy research and analysis at local and national levels
- Liaise with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and other stakeholders
- Support and attend pre‑application meetings, design reviews and public consultations
- Work collaboratively with architects, consultants and clients to shape design‑led planning strategies
- Monitor planning applications and conditions, advising on amendments and compliance
Contribute to appeals, revisions and negotiations where required
- Degree qualified in Town Planning or a related discipline
- Working towards or holding MRTPI accreditation (desirable)
- Experience working in a consultancy, local authority, or multidisciplinary design practice
- Strong knowledge of the UK planning system, particularly within urban environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident, organised and able to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Proactive and collaborative, with a genuine interest in architecture and design quality
