Position Overview

Murphy Geospatial is currently seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join our Subsurface Engineering Department, based in either our Birmingham or Manchester offices. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous CAD experience to thrive in the fast-paced and rapidly evolving Geospatial industry. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Department and will benefit from a hybrid working model, offering flexibility and a supportive team environment.

• Supporting the Senior CAD Technicians and Project Managers, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to budget and to the required quality (Geospatial Certainty)
• Understanding and promoting the importance and compliance with the company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality management system
• Communicating internally with MGS colleagues and externally with clients to be professional and commercially aware
• Training and mentoring junior staff members
• Coordinating and communicating with field teams
• Following established standard practices and workflows, naming conventions / document control etc.
• Working with scales and tolerances
• Experience of RICS and PAS
  128 drawing Guidelines
• Ability to produce 2D plans as well as 3D wireframe models
• Experience of model libraries, blocks, and cross-referencing drawings

• AutoCAD & CIVIL 3D with minimum 2 years’ experience or more
• Experience of RICS and PAS

• Competency in Micro Station is highly desirable
• Background in surveying, engineering, or geomatics
• Understanding surveying principles such as traverse (Control works is also desirable)
• Organised and methodical approach to problem solving and decision making, with proven problem-solving experience
