The Company:
We are looking for a creative and commercially minded Assistant Menswear Designer to join a busy design team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for Jerseywear and trend-led fashion who is keen to develop their career within a fast-paced supplier environment. The successful candidate will support key accounts, working closely with the Senior Designer, you will help create commercially strong, best-selling ranges tailored to the handwriting and customer profile of each retailer.
Key elements of role are as follows:
- Supporting the Senior Designer in developing commercial jersey wear ranges
- Researching and identify the latest fashion and retail trends, translating them into relevant design direction.
- Creating inspiring trend direction boards covering colour, shape, fabric and styling details.
- Conducting retailer-specific trend and competitor research to inform design decisions.
- Assisting in identifying new fabric developments and market opportunities, working closely with the factory team to realise fabric newness.
- Preparing for customer meetings by compiling research packs, CADs, fabric swatches and garment samples.
- Attending customer presentations and design meetings alongside the Designer, assisting with note-taking and follow-up actions.
- Drawing and amend CADs using Adobe Illustrator.
- Creating accurate and detailed tech packs following customer selection meetings.
- Working cross-functionally with UK and Pakistan teams to ensure all development queries are communicated clearly and efficiently.
- Tracking garment and fabric developments from concept through sampling stages.
- Helping maintain an organised and efficient design workspace and support the smooth running of the department.
Skills & Experience
- Placement experience / 1 year in industry
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design or a related subject.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the UK high-street market.
- Excellent research and trend interpretation skills.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator;
Photoshop/InDesign knowledge is advantageous
