Locum Consultant in Allergy

There is an exciting opportunity for a locum consultant to gain 12 months experience in the Allergy Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Allergy Centre provides comprehensive allergy care for adults and children, offering diagnosis, management, and immunotherapy services. Services include diagnostic skin, in vitro, and challenge tests, allergen specific immunotherapy, drug and food desensitisation, and day‑case challenge sessions.
Main duties of the job- Provide comprehensive allergy assessment and management for adult and paediatric patients.
- Conduct diagnostic skin, in vitro, and challenge tests.
- Deliver and manage allergen specific immunotherapy programmes.
- Perform drug and food desensitisation where indicated.
- Run weekly outpatient clinics and day‑case challenge sessions.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and manage outpatient and day‑case waiting lists.
- Teach clinical and procedural skills to junior staff.
The centre is led by Dr Susana Marinho, Consultant Allergist, and supported by a multidisciplinary team of consultant allergists, a professor of respiratory medicine, an academic respiratory physician, specialty registrars, allied health professionals and nurses.

Person Specification Experience- Fully registered Medical Practitioner
- MRCP or equivalent
- Formal Specialist Registrar training in Allergy or equivalent (in GMC Specialist Register for Allergy)
- ALS
- Ability to take full & independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Ability to organise & manage outpatient and day case priorities & waiting lists
- Ability to teach clinical & procedural skills
- Multidisciplinary team experience
